Chain and Rope Suppliers stock the Green Pin range of ratchet loadbinder manufactured by Van Beest in accordance with EN:12195-3, as well as the Thiele range of ratchet and turnbuckle style loadbinder.
A ratchet loadbinder or banger is used as a method of tightening load binder chain. The ratchet load binder serves the same purpose as a snap over load binder but works in a slightly different way. A ratchet load binder functions as a turnbuckle with a grab hook complete with keeper pins on either end of the opposing threaded screws.
To use a ratchet load binder, the threaded bars are wound out fully making the loadbinder as long as possible. The load binder chain which must be grade 80 chain or higher to comply with EN:12195-3, grips the trailer or load usually using a sling hook to an anchor point or a grab hook with keeper pins looped back on to the chain. Remove all the slack from the chain by hand before the chain is griped securely by the grab hooks on the end of the load binder. At this point the handle on the ratchet loadbinder is cranked causing the loadbinder to shorten, thus tightening the chain on the load. A ratchet load binder can get a load binder chain extremely tight. In order to release the tension on the chain simply reverse the ratchet mechanism and unwind the binder.
All our ratchet loadbinders are manufactured and marked in accordance with new tie down and load securement directive EN:12195
